Hi,

I bought these headphones a while back in the US ( Sony, MDRA S40 EX ) and they were just sitting. Till now when the current one's broke, so i thought i will start using the new one's

But for some reason, I have tried my laptop , iphone but the earphone does not want to work.

Is their something missing ? I have checked and there is no complicated wiring apart from inserting the 3.5mm jack, am i doing something wrong?

Or is their a problem with usa style headphones not compatible or something ?

Or is it plain faulty product purchased?

Any ideas !!!

I'd say they're faulty. Sometimes there are compatibility issues with headsets the the iPhone, but since they're standard headphones my money is on them being DOA.

What do you expect? They are Sony so there is most likely DRM or a rootkit involved somewhere.

More seriously, if you look at reviews on the net you will see that a lot of people report very poor reliability with this model.

One big problem is that they belong to just about the most heavily counterfeited class of products around. Even if you buy items from reputable suppliers in what looks like the original packaging you have no way of knowing whether or not you have the real deal.
