So who got their tickets? How many did you get and what costume will you wear?

I picked three up to combine with the four my partner bought. Should be a good party of us :)

What are your thoughts on the scalpers? Evil or benign?

Where did you get your tickets from?  You do realise that the *2012* tournament was earlier this year? :p

I got 5 tickets easily.  An friend who was also trying also got 5 tickets.  Either we have to find 5 more friends to go with or we will have to sell the spares.

Ohh, you could sell them here if you don't need them! (I didn't get any)

Haha! Totally brain farted on the title. Should read 2013 obviously :P

I was surprised they didn't sell out faster. I initially picked up two then another one roughly fifteen minutes later.

I completely forgot they were on sale but managed to get one at 9.32am, which in previous years wouldn't have thought possible

Technology and legislation could exist to stop scalpers, but they don't use it, so I think they have only got themselves to blame. I think the bigger issue is the extra fees the ticketing company charges, just to email you a PDF of the ticket, and more if you go and pick it up or it is mailed to you.

I didn't think it's a technology thing, more of a systems thing. If they made going to the sevens like going on an international flight, where a ticket had to relate to a person and a person was identified as that person before being able to use that ticket, they could effectively stop scalpers.

But most rational people (myself included) would agree that its better to just have some scalpers rather than have the huge extra hassle of ID'ing at the gates and having to turn up a few hours early to events.

Some form of national ID linked to a government database, and retina or fingerprint scanning is a possibility. But it is very big brother.

Got 5 tickets and my daughter and mates are using them. Join a rugby club and get preferential booking. How would that work for ID requirements?

All five of the tickets I purchased have my name on them.  So ID matching ticket would not work.  And bugger having to enter the names of everyone going!  What say someone pulled out and gave their ticket to someone else??

I'm unsure how or if Ticketek will be checking ID or credit cards at the gates. It seems stupid though, a mate picked up ten and will use maybe eight of them. The other two were for 'maybes' who aren't sure if they can make it.

Interesting that there aren't any Listings on TradeMe for them yet.

I think it's a stupid idea to begin with. If you are going to allow the ownership of tickets to be transferred, you can't rule out the potential for scalping.

I was originally just trying to point out that it was a stupid idea.

I heard on the news that people who had them listed on trademe had been phoned by the ticketing people to tell then that the tickets being sold would be voided. I wonder how true that is, and how they managed to do that, as I would have thought their phone details would be private. I don't have a problem with people selling them, espeically as circumstances can change. Sure people may buy to resell them to make a profit, buy maybe the IRD should be cracking down on them if they do make a profit, to make sure they pay tax on the gain.
