Info from Wikipedia...

Parts of northern New Zealand will experience a partial eclipse. Auckland will have 87.0% of the sun obscured, whereas Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin will respectively have 76.4%, 68.9% and 61.5% of the sun obscured. Maximum eclipse over New Zealand will occur around 10:30 NZDT (21:30 UTC), with Auckland at 10:28, Wellington at 10:34, Christchurch at 10:35 and Dunedin at 10:36.[2][3]

Starting to cloud over in Auckland at the moment :(
Hoping for enough gaps to at least get a glimpse. Trying to look on the bright side (pun intended) a thin cloud cover may enhance the view of the partially obscured disk (clutching a straws a bit).

Eclipse should be just starting to nibble at the edge of the sun shortly.
Not too cloudy here in the 'Tron, should get a reasonable view. Time to start building my pinhole viewer...

The cloud's broken up over ventral Auckland just now - right at the maximum eclipse.

We were able to see it through the break in the clouds through a black plastic garbage bag.

That was great! A little cloudy but ok over all.

Interesting behavior from the birds, they could not decide if it was night time or extreme rain due.

Btw, during the maximum when the earth and moon and sun were all aligned I was able to jump approximately 1 meter higher than usual due to the additional gravitational pull in that direction.

If you also felt mild elation or elevated mood during the eclipse event that is the scientific explanation for it.

My best shot isn't very good but it's not surprising given I was using duct tape to make an aperture and an old box I had lying around and stuck to a tripod for stability...

It was/is noticeably colder here in Wellington and the light levels were lower but not by a huge amount.

I had more fun making small apertures by crossing my fingers over each hand at right angles and playing with a large colander heh.
