Word broke last fall that Universal Pictures is planning a return to the Hyborian Age with The Legend of Conan, bringing Arnold Schwarzenegger back as the Robert E. Howard Cimmerian warrior. Ain't It Cool News caught up with Schwarzenegger at a special screening of his latest, The Last Stand and learned that the project is likely to shoot later this year and will potentially set up production in New Zealand.

That could be interesting, but it would be better in Guillermo del Toro's hands methinks.

Whoever they get to direct, can surely do a better job than Michael Bay's ill fated TMNT remake... which is unfortunately happening.

Del Toro would be cool.

I don't understand why everyone seems to have it in for Michael Bay. No remake or movie adaption is particularly faithful at all. Bay's seem about average and much less than soul destroying.

Well the TMNT fans are up in arms because, the turtles are now aliens and no longer mutants(or possibly teenage for that matter of fact).

Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath Of The Titans) is in the directors seat if that isn't bad enough...  and we all know how well Titans turned out.

Bay has since backpedaled under that pressure and saying it was an earlier script draft.

Liebesman's Battle of LA was ok but I haven't seen Titans yet.

I saw Titans. Liebesman's special effects direction integration with live action was ok. His direction of actors is not very active or effective. In BFLA that worked to make it look more natural on the ground. In Titans a fair number of live scenes have a made for TV look for some reason. Titans could have done just as well without a script, he is good as a visual storyteller.
