Frankly this is an affront

Vast profits from bloated inefficent products with mind bendingly bad service at all levels, remind you of any other software vendor?

No. Could yo be clear instead of instilling FUD? What other vendor? Dell? HP? Apple? Java from Sun? Adobe?

Why people go on a crusade against one company, instead of going on a crusade against bad software?

My point is that it doesn't remind me of one specific software vendor, but of an entire IT class of services and products, with bad customer service, and bloated software.

If you are implying the company I think you are (Microsoft), just to let you know my experience with their support was always good. I even had one of their support guys connect to my server to check a problem - and the guy wasn't outsourced to some other country, like Dell or Slingshot do.

Back to Symantec... Yes, I stopped using their consumer version of software some time ago. I use Avast - free for home use, not so bad price for servers.
