Just got this:

You are receiving this email because you previously registered as a customer on www.marbecksdigital.co.nz or the Digirama music download store.

As the Marbecks business continues to develop in the direction of hospitality & food, along with the continuing decline in music sales, it has been decided that our download store www.marbecksdigital.co.nz will close for orders on 30th April 2013.

Our online store for physical CDs and DVDs www.marbecks.co.nz will also close on 30th April 2013.

Marbecks will be looking to develop a refreshed and revitalised online presence with the www.marbecks.co.nz domain as the hospitality business develops.

We are extremely grateful for your custom and support over the years. Without you, we wouldn't have had anywhere near the same amount of fun and passion for music in our lives, and we thank you kindly for all of your purchases over the years.

Customers can redeem Marbecks giftcards online until the 30th April 2013, after that they can continue to be redeemed in our stores in Wall St Dunedin, Riccarton Mall Christchurch, The Plaza Palmerston North and in our Queens Arcade Clearance Store Auckland.

Store credit and Digirama giftcards must be redeemed by 30th April 2013.

In the immortal words of Douglas Adams "So long, and thanks for all the fish"

Seems like it won't be long before Marbecks music may follow suit altogether.

Have to admit, was disappointed at the news upon receiving the same Email. Question is what other online music stores accessible by us here in NZ other than iTunes and vodafone play (are they still 128kbps)?

Hmm I never received a email like that and I am a digital customer of Marbecks / Digirama for music. So I assume that this will bring an end to being able to redownload the music I've paid for think I may need to download them all again and burn to a disk for old school data backup hehe.

Edit: Oh it appears I did receive the email to my junk box lol.

I got that email too. I never personally bought any WMA DRM music from them, but I'd imagine that anyone who did would be a bit worried now especially since the email doesn't say what's going to happen to the servers.

Marbecks prices were being killed by JB HIFI . JB have generally the best prices in town for music and DVD's it a shame that they insist on having the piped music in their stores so goddam loud.

Marbecks is hands down the most expensive place to buy music that I have found.

I think if I had a Marbecks gift voucher, I'd spend it as soon as possible.

I've bought a few discs off them I couldn't find elsewhere. Shame.

I don't buy downloads, still prefer a CD, the whole album.
