Hi all, I seem to find that Icebreaker garments tend to be on the thin side, they are 260 weight, not just the baselayers but the merino jersey tops or mid layers.  How are the insulation like?  One travel with their base layers, one mid layer and a rainproof shell (without the inner fleece) like one of those Paclite or Softshells - not the heavy duties ...

Depends where you're going. That would not be enough insulation for walking the tararua tops in summer. But would be enough for Wellington city midwinter.

Sleeping overnight in Auckland international airport,travelling to Japan which is now 23 with a low 17 stationary non-moving, so not hiking all the time. Gentle slow urban walks, photography with tripod sunrise/sunset.
