Does anyone know any good sites to "legally" purchase and download flac music without any form of DRM? Im looking for Dane Rumbles Exodus album, otherwise im just going to have to take a trip down to jb's. Its needed for an lpfm station so needs to be without DRM so it can be loaded into radio playout software.

Is there any reason you cannot download from iTunes and then write onto CD and then rip the CD?

I dunno the legalities of the sources of Radio Stations. Can you rip any music you like from any source and as long as you pay the royalties its ok?

lpfm stations have to pay annual fees to PPNZ and APRA, approx $200. As far as im aware, any music legally obtained can be played.

Not many download services that do FLAC apart from Bandcamp, but that's pretty much all indie artists so most music is not available that way. CD and rip likely to be the only option if FLAC format is desired.

It's allowed for under the license for LPFM. You are however limited to what you can do. From memory it's one copy and you must have the master copy (ie: CD) in your posession.

Some of the studios now deliver their music as WAV/Mp3 via Internet downloads. I'm aware of Sony and Universal doing this.

Last revision of the copyright law here permitted format shifting for audio, but they neglected to extend the same rights to videos because the legistlators are fracking idiots who don't understand the issue,
