This is proving harder than I thought need someone who is good at soldering to do some work for me.

One is to fix an angled PCMCIA adapter and the other is to solder on a SIMM socket for me. :-)

I don't have a steady enough hand or the gear to do a proper job, usually I have to get this work done through the UK but would prefer someone local to me.

Would be great to be able to get stuff done in a day or two and pick it up but it has been a hard task to find someone.

If you can help I'm in Auckland, don't mind driving over the bridge as I'm on the shore :-)

Will have more work coming up too, so hopefully can find someone local as shipping is a pain :-/

My old man is in Sunnynook and has been in electronics his whole life... he'd probably be happy to help an expat if you made it slightly worth his while.

@Mark - How did you guess? ;-)

@Insane - No problem with payment, not expecting a freebee :-)

For interest sake the SIMM socket is going on my Apollo 060, and the adapter is so I can wedge my A1200 in a PC case. Although with the mediator coming it's proving harder than I thought due to the length of the motherboard + expansion slot pass through + accelerator.

Without the mediator I had it fitting in a raidmax blade case no problem. Going to try it in my spare thermaltake Soprano as it's slightly bigger.

Will take some photos and post it here :-) Geekzone needs a retro/classic computing section ;-)

Been there, done that :-)

I'm a closet Amiga fan .. shhhhhhh!  Though I've downgraded my collection to just an A600 on steroids :-)

I try not to tell people, you tend to get that stare :-) I also noticed some computer history books miss out the Amiga.

Weird stuff.

You should have gone compact flash by now in your Amiga, less power, less heat, better "seek" times :-)

@insane - I was amazed I survived the dog, was worried ;-)

@Mark - CF Cards are too slow, have had a couple. Switched back to a fast 7200rpm laptop drive using my FastATA so I could use pio mode 5, Quake 2 loads really quick now.

Will most likely go SSD or a standard desktop HDD at some point. Have a DVD writer hanging off the FastATA too :-) The onboard IDE on the 1200 is very sad :-)

My 1200 isn't in a wedge anymore, it use to be in a raidmax blade tower but I need a proper full tower to fit the Mediator in when it arrives.

Have had CF Cards just die on me, not detect anymore. Do have a 2GB CFCard left, at some point will set it up and put it back in the A500.
