I came across some old emails I had archived and realised just how many Geekzoners were hanging around on nz.comp 10-12 years ago. Back in the days when I hid behind a gender-neutral nic and none of you knew I was female. LOL

What surprised me is that nz.comp is still going.

KiwiNZ: Age is just a state of mind. Hmmm and a state of joints. :p

... and the more joints you have, the younger you feel?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Ahhh, yes, I was a regular there back in the day. I probably spend more time on nz.general and nz.politics though. That would have been the late 90s, early 2000s.

Usenet is dying. The sharpest decline was probably following the arrival of Google Groups, when simple web-based interface made it too easy to post, the average quality of posts declined, many ng were inundated with spam - and Google did nothing to address abuse of their system.
NZ.politics has died due to cross-posting from overseas nutters. NZ.general is dying, as refugees from NZ.politics seem to have taken over the place - about 9/10 posts are bickering crap - the usual stuff defending poor behaviour by one politician by dredging up some example of equally poor behaviour by another politician in the past.
