Lets see what becomes of this.

I went to their contact page, which led me to email them, which led to a reply email, which led to me having to load my browser and complete a form, which will probably land in someones inbox anyway.

I will post the results here.

Hi there. The above link is for an offer for new subscribers to get 12 free PPV movies for joining Sky.

We have been a Sky Digital customer for years - after all the money we have paid Sky faithfully month after month, will you extend us the courtesy of also giving us the 12 free PPV movies?

I look forward to your acknowledgement that we are at least as valuable as prospective customers, and that we, and our monthly subscription are not just taken for granted.

Regards,

Good try Tony Wink

There's nothing to lose by having a go I suppose...

It will be interesting to see the reply they come back with:

Probably the typical jaundiced brush off you usually get from someone in a customer "service" centre.

P.S.  Sky recently sent me an "Anniversary Card" with one free PPV movie in honour of my being a subscriber for a year.

I selected "Fast & Furious 2: Tokyo Drift" and thoroughly enjoyed it...  A good petrol-head movie Cool

Good luck with the PPV movies.

Like Grant17 I have had a free PPV movie for the last two years on the anniversary of joining Sky, so have my parents.

Cheers

First reply back was an offer of Mind Games channel free for one month (pffft), and a statement outlining their commitment to gaining new customers and extracting monthly revenue out of them. They also stated it was uneconomical to give special offers to 600k customers. They also noted that many moons ago (5 years or something), I got a half price install - wow Sky - thanks for pointing out that discount in the context of trying to show you value me - if thats meant to make me happy for five years, it works out to 40c a month!!

There was a bit of back and forth after that, but it was mostly me baiting them for refusing to acknoweldge in writing that i am in fact a more valuable customer than a prospective customer who hasnt paid a cent to them, ever. (Without any further requests for freebies), and that the cost of retaining a customer is far less that the cost of picking a new customer up. I finished up by politely asking them what process I need to follow to have my Sky service disconnected. (To their credit, they knew I was a Telecom-billed customer, and directed me to the right place within TNZ, not Sky TV customer services as you would expect).

skytv [at] mailap.custhelp.com is a valid direct email address for reaching a Sky rep via email, without following their ghastly 'contact Sky' link from their website (which has you jumping through hoops).

I will concede to the fact that the replies were quick, and the rep(s) were knowedgeable, and looked up my history - thats more than many companies would bother with (but doesnt make for good service).

If there was a competitor here, I would drop them in a heartbeat - perhaps I should look into what freeview or whatever it is will offer... (I dont know a *thing* about it).

RIP: Any loyalty I may have had for SKY TV.
