There have been a lot of random happenings over the last few weeks at the Swanson Train Station.  Gardens being replaced, an extension on the platform and random re-surfacing of the platform on the other side.

I know the new trains will be longer and the garden probably just needed weeding, but what are they doing behind platform two?  I hope it is more park and ride!  They are planning on making it the terminating station for the western line and there are maybe 25 car parks if that.

Anyone have any inside knowledge?  I can't seem to find anything on Google.

Swanson will be a terminal station, so I imagine that they will develop the park and ride.

and there is a bit about the possible future of Swanson here

Thanks!

There is already park and ride at Swanson, but there are so few car parks, if you arn't there before 7AM, you don't get one. I often park one or two hundred meters away from the station. Not all that bad really, but when it is busy, I find myself parking down a dark side street. No CCTV there!

I guess we will watch as it develops.

Yep platform being extended to accommodate new longer EMUs. Which I am very much looking forward to driving!
First one due early September, but will be a while yet before we see them ok west, I think.

Cheers,
Joseph
