In reply to the OP, it seems to be a whistle. Just notice how there are music notes coming out of it. Obviously he's using the whistle to drive the cats pulling the sled.

Or not so obvious, otherwise you wouldn't ask, surely?

I see it now doesn't look like the classic whistle shape. I saw what looked like a whistle shape could not work out why music notes were coming out of whatever he was holding did not look like harmocia or anything, I assumed music notes were from headphones.
