kiwijunglist: how did you find this website?

It may not match with the above, but I googled for the alta vista search engine, which took me to the yahoo home page - from there I was able to search for southern response.

I telephoned my mother who then used her smartphone to email my brother to ask him to ring me with the url for google so I could do a search.

Mr TDKEV,

theres plenty of trademe message boards dedicated to EQ related matters. A plethoria of FB groups targeting individual insurance companies and of course the dearly beloved ChCh Press always has many comments posted for any article they run about this particular insurance company.

What excatley are you after with your OP? (original post).

Hi tddev,  you must be new to the internet..

There is a small search engine which started quite a number of years ago called Google.

You type in what you are looking in what they call a "Search Engine"

In your Web Browser in the address bar http://www.google.com

From there type what you are looking for. For your question you can type in "Southern Response contact christchurch" (Without the "'s) and press enter.

It will then list normally what you are looking for and it does have a direct link for the Contact Us Page on Southern Responses website.

ALL

The OP is asking for 'feedback' on dealing with this insurance company formerly known as AMI Christchurch.

Edit: OP, what is your issue with them? i.e. what are you trying to achieve with them... give us some backround.

Well done folks for the jokes.

I'm pretty sure you mother's cousin's boyfriend's niece's neighbour would know how to search them on the interwebs.

I guess the OP asked "find" in the sense "what's your experience"...

I have been finding them a bit frustrating - but nowhere near as bad as EQC were.
Our case is "protocol one" - I have no idea what that means.
The original assessor (from Arrow) was an idiot - not his fault that he was an idiot as some people are just born that way and possibly just deserve sympathy, but it took a letter to SR's CEO to get them to acknowledge that he was an idiot. He still works for them.
We have a cash settlement offer which seems okay - I *think* I can fix the house for the sum offered. But I *know* that I need to be certain.
This is the best way for us, but really not suitable for the average house owner. It works for me because quite a lot of the work I can do myself, and I've worked in estimating/project management on large projects. Even so, I have at least 6 trades to coordinate, and there is a minefield of issues regarding consents and insurance.
I'm not waiting for final settlement - have already commenced repairs "stage one". Consents, contract works insurance in place, all at my cost. I discharged our mortgage specifically to remove the bank from the equation.
We have been needlessly living in terrible conditions for 2 years due to EQC and SR. If I expected them to come and fix our house, I don't think anything would have happened for years. EQC were an abject fail - not even completing basic emergency repairs to make the house weatherproof, secure, and warm.
The truth about the situation here is far from the story being told in press releases and by the Minister for EQ Recovery. We're okay - but only due to taking things into our own hands. There are plenty of people living in dire circumstances and not feeling much hope.
