Yeeeppp... Geo tagging of photos... nothing new here.  Also I checked a few images from Facebook etc... seems like the geo tags are stripped.  Can anyone confirm that?

Easier for "bad people" to just look at foursquare...

FUD is FUD.

Facebook strips it but retain it internally for themselves.

They do try to match the location to any area nearby though which is why it normally says what city or town it was taken in.

Ah. So the OP omitted that little detail, uh?

Not sure if serious then.

Sorry did not realize that. I just posted the link to the youtube video from the post in facebook without checking the date. I assumed it was recent because it seems to be doing the rounds on facebook.

Photobucket seams to retain alot of the EXIF header information but does strip-off the GEO meta data.

imgur also strips off the EXIF data, but Tumblr does not.

"Doing the rounds" is like those people who warn friends not to eat Chicken McNuggets because they are made of pink slime.

(No, they aren't and haven't been for many years. No one seems to know about Snopes).

In that case, I'm glad that I just have a dumb old Sony camera and not a "smart" phone for taking pics.

Not only smartphones. There are plenty of digital cameras around with built-in GPS.
