I tend to like to play with new technology, and while I don't usually uptake the technology early, I do tend to get there!

At the beginning of this year I purchased an Ipad, this was because as a bonus we were given vouchers at work for either Foodtown/Countdown or Dicksmith, I had save these for a few months and ended up very close to enough for an Ipad 16GB 4G+wifi so I saved a little and purchased it, I loved it, and still do, or would if I hadn't upgraded to the 128GB version in May.

My girl friend was not impressed, she thought that I should have spent the vouchers on groceries!

My girlfriend has not had a cell phone for around a year when I got her an iphone 3GS, she hasn't admitted she likes it yet, but it is the only phone in about 5 years that she has kept regularly charged and I can contact her on 5 out of 10 times I try.

Yesterday we found that my 7 year old laptop that I gave her when her even older Acer desktop finally died has been compromised, and she had her paypal account hacked and some money stolen, I have told her I don't want to spend any money on fixing it as it is too old, and just not worth repairing, the battery is dead and the charger port on the laptop is dodgy.

I did however make the huge error of showing her how to surf the internet on the Ipad, this morning I went to put it in my bag to take to work and was told that the Ipad wasn't going anywhere, and that she quite liked it and it was now hers! I asked her why she had changed her mind about "the complete waste of money" and she told me that they never said on TV that is was better than a laptop!

Well I offered to get her a cheap Android tablet so she can surf the net, which is all she does anyway and was told, "don't waste your money, the Ipad will do fine!"

So long my trusty Ipad I will miss you :(

An all too familiar story I think.

I've lost count of the number of people who 'can't see the point in an ipad' who ended up commandeering their partners' and now can't live without it.

I think I will have to start a support group for like minded people, we shall meet the last Thursday of each month at Denny's to mourn our missing friends :)

In a thousand homes in a thousand towns this scenario is played out, buy a new one for yourself her reasons to keep your one is your compelling reason to buy another.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I got sucked into buying a second tablet (for complicated family reasons) and chose a Galaxy Note 10.1 but while it has some great features I still prefer the iPad for multiple reasons. Now I get the argument you don't need to use the iPad because there is another tablet you can use ;-(

Nothing ever changes much.

The first payday after after the 2000 New Years Holiday, I took my overtime (thanks to several days of 12 hour shifts waiting for nothing to meltdown - ah, those were the days!), and bought myself a shiny new "Palm IIIx" (anyone else remember the Palm Pilot ?).

Took it home that evening, casually showed it to my wife, went out to a meeting, came home, and she said "You know you're not getting this back, right?".  Off to the shop the next day for another one....

Same story here. Got an iPhone 4 three years ago, wife said useless toy. Left it at home once, and I never used it again. It's hers. End of story. :D

Yep, similar here. Wife's old candy bar phone died. Suggested something "smart" to replace it. Nope, didn't want it, so cheap Telecom replacement. Then, "can I get my email on here?". Hmm, yes, but not elegantly.

Went and got her an iPhone 3GS, configured it up, swapped in her SIM and gave it to her. Won't be without it now.

my wife used to hate it when I would lie in bed tapping away on my iphone or ipad. (not that we would be doing anything more fun.. its more that it disturbed her sleep haha)

now she has an iphone she is ten times worse than me about it.....
