My area, the flat part of Dunedin. The odd gust of wind, but nothing major, and showers now and then.

How is it in your part of NZ?

Howling gale outside right now, 80km from Wellington.

2 hour power cut this morning, tree branches on roads and so on.

And if I hear the banal expression 'weather bomb' on TV tomorrow I swear I shall scream!!

Nothing in Auckland yet obviously. I heard they'd clocked 230km/h gusts in Canterbury highlands though. That's hurricane stuff

East side of Christchurch in an as-yet-unrepaired wooden house. Loud wind, shakes the house so much I want to board up the windows and sleep in a hammock. I feel like I'm in a boat on the high seas. And the dust storms, sometimes can barely see the other side of the road. Not to mention all the dust that gets in the house, I can barely breath, if this keeps up for another day I'll have silicosis by the end of tomorrow.

Island Bay - Wellington, a little bit windy but appears to be dying down.

Christchurch west, very windy and lights dimming now and then, house and windows creaking, but at least the grounds not shaking.

CHCH, I have an entire wall of windows facing into the wind and it sounded like it was only a matter of time until something smashed into it with enough force to break it. Enough wind to actually make my curtains move and that's with rubber sealed doors and windows. Very impressive

Wellington city and inner northern suburbs - windy but no damage as far as I can see.

It's been pretty windy, but nothing to write home about.

So I wasn't going crazy, had that out east too.

Someone thought they saw lightning last night, but I couldn't see it.

Rain, muggy, sun, rain & thunder, sun, rain, sun and muggy. I think in that order. Hopefully the weather will calm down a bit tomorrow.
