This is driving me nuts and I thought I'd post a request for help!

I love spearmint leaves. There seems to be about 6 types running around, but I only really like one type. I have seen them with sugar on, overly firm, and a few different types but the one I like is the older style, but I can't work out what brand it is and very few places tend to sell them these days.

I found them at the Wellington Airport at a place that does "traditional sweets" but they couldn't or wouldn't tell me what brand they were.

The "right' kind can be broken by hand and they get like a metal fatigue type effect when they are compressed or crushed.

I am not really sure how to describe them, anyone able to shed light on my rantings?

If you have a sample do an image search on Google site:.nz. there are quite a few differing types. You might find the leaf veins are the key.

Hard to find that is for sure, best examples I could get are:

These, no brand name unfortunately

These 'Rainbow' brand ones hard to tell if they are the ones you're searching for though.

I know Pascal used to do a spearmint leaf although it seems to have been discontinued. although I did find an expired auction on trade me for a bag of them.

Thanks the rainbow ones definitely aren't right, too light coloured. The ones I like are really dark green.

Hard to tell the other ones.

I called the place in Wellington again and there was a superstar assistant who said she would photograph them and pxt me in her break! She said she would find out what she could from her manager
but thought it was possible it might be commercially sensitive.

Pascalls are the ones, but that's not say they haven't changed the mix over the years, a second rate alternate is the warehouse jobbies

BinInn sells them, and seems to use different brands from time to time - sometimes there are a couple of different sorts in the scoop.

You could visit one and ask them, after sampling of course ;)

<- don't ask me where I am - I haven't a clue: its a tech thing ;)
Housewife computerer: not particularly great at either.
And don't take me too seriously.
