decided to buy this yesterday, just couldn't resist. Very cool and addictive toy!

This is a 3.5 channel, 2.4ghz remote.

Any RC guru's here? Would like to know if any modifications can be made.
If you have a RC Helicopter or plane, please post pictures. Would like to see what else is out there.

Next step, buy the real 4 Channel. 3/3.5 is for children only ;-) There is no modification possible for that helicopter.

Once you've mastered 4 channel, be ready to spend $1-2k for the 6 channel to feed your addiction.

Haha,got it for our cat to entertain him. Very cool copter tho,crashed it about 40 times today,still in great conditions.
Starting to get the hang of it though,definitely keen on upgrading!!!

What are the channels about? 3.5...4...6..etc

What are the channels about? 3.5...4...6..etc

3 channel:
channel 1 - throttle, go up/down
channel 2 - turn left/right (tail move left/right)
channel 3 - forward/back

4 channel:
channel 1 - throttle, up/down
channel 2 - turn left/right (tail movement)
channel 3 - forward/back
channel 4 - aileron (heli move sideways left/right)

combination of channel 3 + 4, you can move the heli in diagonal direction etc...

This is what you can do with 6 channel!

Fwd/Back controlled by speed of rear flat tail rotor pointing nose. And turning via Cyclic speed.

Vs 4-axis tilting main rotors and 2axis tail rotor :)

I've always wanted a "real" ie gas powered radio controlled helicopter. Until I recently read about the young man in the USA who was doing trick flying and lopped the top of his head off. Yikes!

I have a number of small micro RC helis (Blade mcpx, nano qx, msr and a few others). I'm nowhere near a 3D flyer but can competently fly coaxial, fixed pitch and collective pitch in circuits.

I've modified a few of them with aluminium heads/blade grips to remove some of the slop that wears in to the plastic parts over time but i'd recommend looking at the helifreak forums for real inspiration.

I started on a little coaxial like yours a few years ago so I could re-learn the basics inside my apartment. It quickly lead to needing something more advanced that I could still fly inside and now I don't think i'll ever get a larger machine. I've had 400 sized ones years ago (petrol and electric) and found them too hard to find the time to fly. The micro's are great.

Walkera make some very decent entry level micro/sub micro helis and then the sky is the limit almost, heh. I have Blade branded ones but some of them are significantly more expensive than the Walkera ones, I just have a 2.4GHz radio that doesn't work with Walkera gear so didn't see the point in doubling up my transmitters.

2nd try as the forum logged me off while I was checking some details...

You can get $200-300 average level RC gear in NZ with 6 channels...the 1-2k ones are high spec etc versions...also you can get cheaper Chinese RC gear to start off with... and make sure you get the 2.4 Ghz systems as they have a built in frequency hopping system which avoids the old frequency clash problems -crashing models....

The ones sold in the Malls dont usually come with support/parts while those sold in NZ hobby shops do have this...most NZ hobby shops are online now too...plus you can go in and speak to them about what you are planning on doing and what to buy..

I use an online forum called RCGroups most of the time now but there are a few others.... and YouTube has alot of info available on these and especially FPV multirotor copters which is very popular now. This is being watched by the airspace authorities world wide as they figure how or when to regulate this for safety. We have a 400 foot height limit in NZ ( some variations do exist for clubs) and you dont need to join the NZMAA till you are flying models over 11Kg I think it is. Which is a CAA regulation requirement...again for safety issue... joining a club is up to you but you do get access then to local knowledge etc...

Also check out RCModelreviews online and his YouTube channel for some good info etc....plus aceflyernz on YouTube as he has doen alot of FPV flying with mutirotors/FPV....

I got one of those wee micro helicopters as an Xmas gift in 2012 and love the thing, just wish that it could handle more than the slightest breeze when being used outside and I could get it to hover in place.

Want a slightly more powerful version now, but never known where to look

yeah they are great fun indoors! i believe the drones have hover in place without touching the remote?
Definitely need a more powerful version too!
