Len says that he wants to make Auckland the world's most livable city.

It may not be the most important thing but a lot of Jafas will not accept that we are if our planning authorities refuse to let us have one on the rather odd grounds that they know that we really do want one badly.

Come on Len, give us an Ikea.

You know that we want one and you know that they want to come here.

The only reason that they are not here is that the fools at the Environment Court actually banned them because they would be too popular.

So come on Len, this is a political issue not a business issue and you can fix it for us.

Go find a suitable location. Get your planning goblins to work out what infrastructure would be needed to solve access and traffic issues. (When I lived in Germany, my city council went do far as to build a new Autobahn off-ramp specifically for the new Ikea. In Dublin, they run busses from the town centre with the destination marked as Ikea.)

Then go schmooze the bosses at Ikea's Aussie division. Say sorry what what happened in 2008 and tell them all about the new site that you have found for them.
