Back in my/our day you could buy bulk (non-Themed) sets of Lego but they don't seem to exist anymore? They were good for creativity.

Found my old stuff last week and put it out for the kids and they loved it so hoping to add to it. I know I can look on TradeMe but will use that option if no stores sell them anymore.

We started a lego collection for our kids earlier in the year, got a bulk pack from Farmers, I think it was 1500 pieces, for about $90 on special I think. I've seen smaller packs at the Warehouse too, possibly K Mart. We also got a set of wheels, another of doors/windows and another of roof pieces from toyco.co.nz, they seem to have sales quite often, so if you're patienet you'll probably get 20% off.

That was well timed, was just talking to a friend at lunch about how hard it was to find Lego other than the pre-existing (expensive) sets. No idea what happened to my (fairly substantial) collection, probably ended up with one of my cousins who probably fed it to their dog or buried it. :(

I found all the old instructions for my 1979 sets of lego on line.

Still got all the pieces, but no instructions. But I seem to remember they also had replacement packs for some of the more unique pieces.

But am sure google will be your friend in your search.

I have found
www.bricklink.com

is a good source for hard to find or replacement pieces. It seems these are mostly hobbyist individuals rather than large commercial retailers looking for big profits. There are quite a few NZ based traders there which keeps shipping prices reasonable, and I've also had parcels shipped from offhsore (US and Europe) at actual postal rates of $5 or less.

BTW, for Mindstorms fans, at time of writing clickmonday is still running and you can get an EV3 delivered from Toyworld for $480 +$7 freight.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

I've found google each time to be the best bet - there are quite a few sites around with various instructions, but no one site seems to be fully comprehensive.
