Just reading through the thread about your favourite gadget of 2013, got me wondering what my favourite apps were, and than what yours are?

There's obviously too many categories and platforms to make this an easy call, so I figure let's go for a few main ones as below and then see if you can pick a best-of-the-best out of them, and a runner-up.  Feel free to add more categories, and be sure to say what platform the app is on too, so we can go out and buy it based on your recommendation :)

Productivity

1. Evernote.  Still my number one, and the 2013 UI update on iOS is fantastic!

2. MindNode.  In my new job I’m doing a lot more project work so having good mind maps is really useful - this app is beautiful.  Mainly use it on Mac but also iOS for viewing on the go.

Reading

1. Feedly.  A really nice Google Reader replacement.  I use this every day on all platforms I own

2. Comic Zeal.  I started reading comics last year and this is the best reader i’ve used. iOS.

Games

1. GTAV. Easily my game of the year, played on Xbox 360

2. Tomb Raider.  A close second, really great gameplay/graphics/story.  Xbox 360

Notable Mentions

1. iOS 7 - I really love the new iOS in comparison to its predecessors.  In a year where Mavericks also came out, iOS 7 made the biggest impact on me.

2. Moves.  An awesome “quantified self” pedometer for iPhone. Gorgeous design and really accurate (surprisingly)

One that stands out for me is Wunderlist. Very handy for many things, including shared listed with significant other for shopping and things To Do etc

On the topic of TODO lists, I find Workflowy very handy. There isn't a native Android app which is a bit of a pain, but the web interface is ok. It is very easy to share lists with others and I just love how simple and intuitive the sub-listings work.

Wunderlist is great. Can use it on the web, my Nexus, my iPad and my GF uses it on her iPhone - all sync up nicely.

Is it nice and easy to add lists within lists? I had a quick look on their site and it seemed that was a PRO feature only?

Looks like lists can only have 1 sub-list, limited to 25 items. For my use case, I don't even need that.

Ok - using Workflowy I have a things like;

* Projects
* Project 1
* TODO
* Ideas
* Hardware
* Software
* Completed
* Project 2
* TODO
etc...

The UI isn't the slickest but being able to create sublists so quickly and easily makes it very good for organings jobs IMHO.

Damn it - that wasn't formatted properly!

Add a vote to feedly, was a shame to see Google Reader disappear, but feedly has been an improvement anyhow, just never needed to look for it previously.

I use Snapseed regularly to tweak photos on the move, not sure if a photography category should be added.

Try making a thread to talk about it if you would like some specific advice/help/feedback.  Please keep this one on-topic.

Evernote - although I was trying to create a new notebook on my iPhone and that really is not as easy as it ought to be.

It's a brilliant tool for travelling - I can file all the email flight confirmations, hotel bookings, websites, general info etc into country notebooks within an overall trip notebook and get it anywhere in the world in one easy place. A Premium account allows me to share the notebooks with my wife so she can add in any bookings she makes etc.

Air Video and Keyboard+ lite. Air video streams video from my laptop to my iPad. Keyboard+ lets me use the iPad as a wireless keyboard and trackpad for my laptop which is hooked up to our tv.

My husband's vote would be TuneIn Radio which he listens to all the time.
