So the first big show of the year for geeks has just begun in Las Vegas. So far some big and curved TVs, new computer hardware, some tablets and some 3D printers. The usual dog and pony show from Samsung (except Michael Bay's walk out which was a highlight apparently) and Sony's presentation.

I am waiting to see what wearables are presented. So far I have seen a Pebble clone and a variation on the G Glass theme.

Hoping for a Galaxy Gear 2, or at least making it more compatible with other phones. Or just a better smart watch that actually looks good from some other OEM.

What would other GZers like to see announced?

Maybe will need to wait for IFA or MWC 2014 for the portable gadgets.

You sure that peeble clone isnt peeble 2.0 (metal) that they announced this morning?

Or was it the keyros that I among others ordered in August and are STILL waiting for it to me manufacturered/shipped?

Bit of a let down. Crowdsourcing that sounded awesome.. asked for 200k, got over a mil.. then come the updates.. factory walks, pictures.. then.. delays. and delays

No not the metal Pebble announced today, I was meaning the ZTE Bluewatch. The Pebble Steel still doesnt quite do it for me. A bit 1970s in its design. I need to replace my existing watch with something that is a piece of jewellery as well as functioning well technically, and will work with my HTC One.

Edit: The just announced Xperia Z1 Compact looks interesting. A true mini-me, same innards, just smaller, unlike the 'minis' from some other manufacturers, which tend to be crippled versions.

I find it bizarre that Samsung would get someone to talk about their products without fully briefing on the technology - it is just as bad as the incident of sending lawyers into a patent court and them not being able to distinguish the difference between a Galaxy Tab and an iPad

I'm hoping to see more info about Oculus Rift. I tried one at DigitalNationz and loved it. Totally immersive.

I know it will probably end up being a gimmick, but it is so damn cool. Would love to be playing FPS games using that.

Looking forward to seeing what is announced in the home automation space. Already some cool stuff from Kiwi Wearables (wearable motion/tracking sensor) and a new electronic door lock from Okidokey.

Hopefully plenty more to come...

Would like to see some 1TB SSDs like the new Apple computers can get as an upgrade have.

Also looking forward to some of those new sub $1000 4K monitors hitting NZ shores.

Im not sure I see any reason for a curved screen. Would make mounting it to the wall or a stand a bitch.

Samsung sure do like to churn out android devices, becoming a bit stale now. The insistence in continuing to use a hardware buttons is amusing though.

I was hoping for a Gear 2 that doesn't have a camera on the strap and syncs to any Android, unlikely

Michael Bay's meltdown was priceless. The least embarrassment he should suffer for what he did to
The Transformers franchise.

Hoping to see an announcement of a new Nexus 10 - been rumoured for ages that one is coming. Although the usual leaks that precede such a thing don't seem to have occurred this time.

That would be announced at GoogleIO, some time away.
