Didn't the Corrections Department want to introduce this technology some time ago? Looks as even they are not allowed to use such technology.

It is a device that will send out signals in the same frequency as the cell towers, causing mobile phones to stop working in an area around it. It's not legal in New Zealand, and I know some theatres in the U.S. wanted to use this to prevent annoying people talking on the phone during movies.

Alternative is introduce RF shielding in theater construction and charge patrons an extra $5 a head. At the current rates you would hardly even notice the extra $5 Tongue out

Well either that or people just get some manners.

Or, everyone could be made to wear boiler suits that the theatre provides...

I can guess that building Faraday cages would be very very expensive wouldnt they?

Even better yet, make everyone empty their pockets as they go through metal detector, like at customs, and when they put their cellphone in the tray you dis-charge everyones battery. Or hit the cellphone with a mallet :p
