After the 2003 Americas Cup defeat in Auckland, New Zealand, nothing feels better than hearing that Team New Zealand are one more race away from winning the Louis Vuitton Cup, one more race from challenging Alinghi for the Americas Cup. Winning the Louis Vuitton Cup Final 5 – nil only makes it sweeter.

ETNZ Vs Luna Rossa

Lets bring it home Emirates Team New Zealand!!!

nzbnw: ...Winning the Louis Vuitton Cup Final 5 – nil only makes it sweeter.

AMEN to that!!!

Fingers crossed for the guys.  Don't know if I can quite hack staying up till 3am, but will be sure to catch the highlights tomorrow on ONE from 0700 - 0800.

It has been such a treat watching the teamwork on ETNZ's boat during the Louis Vuitton.  Those spinnaker hoists and drops are so fast and smooth it's amazing.  A faultless display of sailing prowess from all concerned.

I can't help feeling that Deano and the boys still have some Aces up their sleeves.  Putting it down to good luck this morning during the after-race interview was just stretching things a little too far.  We all know that they are damn fine sailors and have a damn fast boat Cool

However, good on them for playing it close to their chests.  No doubt Alinghi have some hidden tricks in their arsenal as well.

ETNZ really are at the top of their game and it's like they have found another gear since Race 1.

GO FOR IT GUYS!!!

I think this time round Team NZ will do well, just wondering... what has Alinghi been up to? Are they souping up their boat? NZL-92 seems pretty well designed and it sounded so technologically advanced!!

Few more steps closer to bring American's Cup back to NZ water... can't wait to see that in 2011!!!

Oh, who's going to captain the Alinghi?

Well done Team New Zealand!!!

[sarcasm]

Now all we have to do is beat Alinghi and vindicate Labour of their preposterous overspending to get them there

[/sarcasm]

It'd be a busy wee year for NZ sport in 2011 if we did win. Rugby World Cup also!

As we come up to D -4, we strike a strange refusal by Alinghi Syndicate owner, Ernesto Bertarelli.

Honestly, what next?

Here is to hoping he gets what he deserves.

I think the one to whom your refering to is only a Swiss national, and not actually born there.

WOW!!!

What a race Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Team New Zealand came from behind to win Race 2 by 28 seconds!!!

It was a hard fight all the way -- real edge of your seat/nail biting stuff.

Team New Zealand have now beaten Alinghi for the first time in an America's Cup race.  This will be a HUGE confidence booster for the guys.

AWESOME job guys, keep it coming Cool

All done, thanks for the Prompt. Just been a little busy, currently in Aussie, using a Telstra Next G UMTS 850Mhz device. It's not so bad, speeds probably similar to EVDO Rev 0 I guess.

Great win by ETNZ in the second race, looking forward to the early hours of tomorrow Cool.

WWWWOOOOOOWWWW!!!!!!!!

That was the most exciting America's Cup race I have ever seen after watching all the campaigns since 1995.

An absolute cliffhanger!

First of all, the start was delayed by 2 hours Frown

Alinghi got a good start and initially appeared to have chosen the right side of the course, but then Team NZ got a huge wind shift out on the right and before anyone realised, they had shot out to a MASSIVE 300m lead!!! Cool

At that point Alinghi looked dead and buried but they clawed back and Team NZ had a problem getting the spinnaker in at the second mark.  Apparently the afterguard made a couple of late direction changes due to the tricky wind shifts.  Their bowman got a swim as well...

Before you knew it, Alinghi had demolished Team NZ's lead and managed to cross the third mark 15 secs in front... Frown

Not good at all, but on the downwind leg the breeze became very shifty and the lead alternated 2 or 3 times...

Alinghi were in front 90m early on but then they got out to 160m ahead, before Team NZ picked up a wind shift and briefly got in front.  Then the pendulum swung in Alinghi's direction and they got in front again.

Finally, the pendulum swung back to Team NZ and we all watched incredulous as Alinghi failed to gybe back to cover Team NZ and let them sail across the finish line just 70m ahead with a 25 second lead.

Team NZ (2)  Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool  Alinghi (1)
