From The Times:

"London’s most expensive rental property has gone on the market and is available to occupy immediately provided you can shell out £65,000 a month in rent. The Grade II-listed Audley House, which is 8,346 sq ft in size, has been brought to the market by the high-end agent Wetherell which is advertising a rent of £15,000 a week. This equates to £65,000 a month, £780,000 a year and £3.9 million over five years. Any prospective tenant would have to pay a security deposit of £90,000 plus one month’s rent upfront so a total £150,000 which could buy you a studio flat in outer London."

(Note - approximately you can double the numbers to get the NZ$ equivalent!)

But, London has many more billionaires than Auckland, so , when compared to ones income the london rental is a bargain.

Hardly a bargain!

Really we should do more to attract billionaires. One of my near neighbours is one and in 2 years or so since he moved here he has bought 2 vineyards and a 6 star lodge and injected plenty of capital into them.

We need more of those rich people.

What do you mean hardly a bargain.    Assuming a billionaire might be making making around 100 million per year.....  this house costs 1.5 million a year.....1.5% of the billionaires income -- and they get to spend the other 98.5% on whatever.

In fact, the cost is a rounding error.

Ahhh , billionaire neighbour...you should follow him around collecting all the 1000 dollar bills he drops.

It does not make sense to compare Auckland and London.

You can however easily compare Dubai and London. 15k pounds a week is cheap when you have loads of money.

I love NZ the way it is.

Sadly, he doesn't, although I did meet him once. I don't think you get rich dropping money! ;-)

He's called Bill Foley if you want to look him up.
