I'm considering changing to them & I wanted to hear the good and the bad :)

They are the lowest quote for the exact same [house, contents & car]

I'd been with them for ~10 years and was happy up until a few weeks ago dealing with an inept claims person there, other than that I'd been happy but you always are until you need to make a claim.

Have switched to State now seeing as they (IAG) practically own or underwrite everyone else, wouldn't be surprised if they end up buying AA insurance one day ;)

It costs me $1000+ to insure a 18 year old (Myself) with a BMW E30 or 320I 1990.
I have a motorbike too (I mean mum does) and im a nominated driver, $350 a year...

Got good prices as AA (have both car and content there) and we just had a content insurance claim that went smooth as silk, couldn't have been happier.

I have a motorbike too (I mean mum does) and im a nominated driver, $350 a year...

Having worked in the insurance industry, before moving into IT, if/when you need to make a claim on the motorbike it'll be easy for the insurance company to determine if you're the main rider of the bike in which case your policy will be cancelled and claim declined

Not worth it

I dont plan on crashing, It was so i could get finance.
I have my own policy with it now.

*As i was 17 when i got it i couldnt have finance, She had to own it and insure it and nominate me.

I've been with them many years, since AMI increased my premiums 50% in one year as my car was beginning to enter "classic" age.

I would recommend them. I have made a contents claim for burglary. All items replaced with new. Had to have either receipt, packaging, or photos to prove ownership ... I had enough to claim 100% but that would trip many up id say. They replace with exact item if available, 2nd choice with similar item, 3rd is to pay out value if unable to be replaced by their supplier stores...
Took 4 weeks from claim until last item was received. Very good communications along the way.

Car insurance - haven't made a claim with them, but something to look out for, a "trick" they are doing which caught me and family members living elsewhere out... significantly reducing vehicle cover at renewal and upping cover to premium cover or plus or whatever its called but due to reducing vehicle insured value premiums stay similar so goes unnoticed. Then when calling to correct this they say excess needs to be increased from previously as they changed it on all standard policies.

No problems so far - but Ive never made a claim :)

All insurance is a scam. The greedy scum always try to wiggle out of it and pay out as little as they can get away with. X-(

It was not AA, but last year I tried to get a few panelbeating repairs done on my car and the insurance wanted to treat it as three separate jobs, three separate claims, make me pay three separate amounts, even though the panelbeatering was only one job. Meaning that despite the fact that I have been paying for full insurance for the last 10 years with no claims ever, they were only going to cover about one-third of the cost.

I have been with them for a few years. They were the only big insurance company that would cover me for my car (based on my age and its performance). They then said the next year they shouldn't have insured me on it at all, but since they had they would keep offering it anyway.

Had to make 1 claim (was the other drivers fault, she admitted it, and her insuranced covered it). They were good to deal with. Wasn't too impressed with the repairers though (they told me it would take a week to get the car back, but after a week they hadn't even submitted their bit to AA for approval), but a call to AA got an apology from the repairers so that was nice.

We have two cars insured with them - a 10 year old Mitsubishi Pajero and a 3 year old Honda Jazz.

Each is about $350 a year fully comp, full NCB and all drivers with clean licences for over 30 years.

We've claimed a couple of times with no dramas. It was cheaper before the AA scrapped it's previous points scheme in favour of the stupid petrol one though!

I noticed that too ... a bit of a pain in the sit-upon, but not as bad as the ASB credit card True Rewards where they decided to start charging a separate annual fee for the rewards sca... err, "scheme". :-(

I assume the 3 damaged areas were from 3 different incidents? In that case I don't see the problem as the insurance company will treat each event as separate claims and investigate each one individually, including seeking to recover their costs from the other parties where appropriate. The fact that they all can be fixed with one job is irrelevant. I would imagine the panel beater would had to have submitted 3 different invoices as well.

Main thing with all insurance companies, be aware of the contract and policy conditions and exclusions!!!!!

They can't 'wiggle' out of it unless they have legitimate grounds to decline the claim.

Generally speaking AA seem to have a good reputation.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
