I was so angry the other day.

I was bidding, and winning a speaker on Trademe with minutes to go and then I lost reception. As I was at work I was using my mobile.

As there hadnt been any other bids I was sure I won it.

A couple of hours later I got home, and to my shock I received an email to say that the reserve hadnt been met and the auction closed.

The item was offered for $15 more than my bid, and it was accepted by someone else ( I was at work).

At no point was I aware that there was a reserve and it hadn't been met. The only message I saw was that I was leading the bidding.

Nothing I can do now, but still slightly annoyed.

Anyone else had similar issues?

I'm not exactly sure what you are annoyed about. If a bid meets the reserve then the red flag shows. Until then it does not. Either you are new to trademe, or is this just your unlucky first time ever you have struck an auction with a reserve set higher than the starting price.

I am fairly new to TM, but am sure that there was a red flag after my bid.

Maybe I did something wrong, I'm starting to doubt myself now.. . . .

So reception on your device and your misunderstanding of when an auction becomes live is TM's fault? Hmmmmm.

Understandably frustrating, but sometimes life happens.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Should be easy to find an overpriced auction and see what happens there on mobile again. It is not possible to lower reserve to meet a bid, so you will be safe bidding on something like that.
