Hiya,

I do quite a long commute by motorbike these days (200km per day) and feel sucking in the exhaust fumes from the cars on SH1 to Auckland is probably not the healthiest thing to do.

Anyone know of a brand of face masks with filter that is geared to air polutions (so not just dust) ?

I'm hoping the cyclists here can point me in the right direction (I promise not to kick any of you over for a whole month! ;-)

Thanks!

Mark

There has been a bit of work in this area (e.g. this which suggests that cars can be worse than cycling (presumably similar for motorcycles).

Given that it is reasonably small particles causing issues (carbon monoxide, PM1 (particles smaller than 1 micrometer), ultra fine particles) you would need a proper respirator to protect from these - cheap filter masks wouldn't cut it
