What ever happened to the good old kiwi made Chocolate Mousse that KFC and Pizza Hut used to sell?  It has now been replaced by some not so good Aussie product.

I have looked everywhere and I am not able to find the one they used to sell! IMO it was the best!

Anyone know where i can buy some from?

You probably do not have all the unpleasant chemicals you'll need to add to make it the same....

Maybe! Hence my desire to re-enjoy all these unpleasant chemicals!

A friend worked at Pizza Hut when we were uni students (so mid '90s). One of my memories was seeing that mousse's origins - it came as a powder to which they just added water, so clearly a very classy product. That, of course, didn't stop us devouring the large tray of mousse left over at the end of the night!

Edit - in terms of source: have you tried supplies shops like Moore Wilson's? Those sort of places certainly sell other classy "pre-mix" items in bulk, such as "muffin mix" (my theory as to why most commerical muffins have the same generic and bland flavour).

I once went into the rear area of KFC for work about 8 years ago.
A girl was scooping some congealed fat mixture into plastic bags and was throwing them into a container on the floor.
I asked "Do I even want to know what that is?" and she just looked at me and shook her head...

Na, that is not the Mousse I am thinking of. That is the one from the old all you can eat days... I am thing about the factory made takeaway mousse - made by a company in Tauranga I think...

I have not set foot in KFC since being hospitalised with Listeriosis for 9 days about 4 years ago....!

Never proven but it was the only thing we could come up with that I had eaten which my wife had not in the few weeks prior.

Hello,

I work in sales & marketing at Florentines Patisserie, a large manufacturer of frozen cakes and desserts in Tauranga NZ. Our company produces the chocolate mousse tubs you enjoyed at KFC a couple of years ago. Unfortunately we do not suppy to them anymore however we do still produce this product. If you let me know where in the country you are located, I can advise you of distributors in your area that carry our chocolate mousse tubs. Or if you are located in Tauranga, we do have a "seconds shop" that is open to the public on Fridays from 9am-4pm and we generally have this product available in the shop.

Kind Regards,
Gabrielle @ Florentines

Personally, I think thats damn nice of someone to discover this thread and make the effort to fufill geeks cravings! Well done that man (or wo-man)

I too recall the large silver tub of mousse that sat under the ice cream dispenser - mmmmmmm (and tubs of m&ms and jellybeans) alas, those days are gone.
It was an art to swivel the bowl in 1 hand while pulling the lever to ensure maximum consumption of your 1-off fee :D
