hi all

Im currently with Contact Energy and reside in the Auckland City (CBD) apartment. I am looking to switch to Energy Online but uncertain how reputable the company is. Can anyone share any experiences or reviews?

I have done my math, the monthly bills would be fairy similar so would nice to take up the promotional offer - $50 credit and 6 month price promise which sound pretty good especially the winter is coming. Energy Online also accept credit card payments.

what are everyone's experiences/reviews/reputation of Energy Online? thanks advance.

". In December 2002, Genesis Power Limited bought Energy Online from (then) publicly listed Newcall Group Limited."
"In March 2012, Energy Online was amalgamated with Genesis Energy Limited) and Energy Online is now operating as a separate retail brand under Genesis Energy Limited."
http://www.energyonline.co.nz/home/about_us/history_eol So they at least have significant backing,
the use of the word malgamated makes me think they will share genesis' back office/call centre,

Seems that many of the established power companies now have a "discount" brand reseller as part of their business model

We are with Energy Online but recently prices have gone up so its time to rethink if its worthwhile remaining.

I've been with them for a couple of years and haven't had any problems (aside from when the meter installer disconnected my hot water!), but after I got the price rise letter I switched to TrustPower for a saving of ~$22/month.

.

Is that the saving even with the 20% prompt payment discount ?

Yes. There's an additional 5% saving if you go on contract with TrustPower but I haven't done that.

I switched from meridian to genesis, then to EOL, and I knew they were part of Genesis, but I have to say the customer service has been a miles better with EOL. How does that work, beats me...but I'm happy.
20% discount for prompt payment, cheap pricing....I check every now and then.

Quite happy with them for the last 3 years.

We are wit EOL. Recently the daily rate has doubled and the kW rate gone down slightly, our bill seems to have gone up about $10/month. Haven't actually gotten around to looking for a better deal tho.

Cheers,
Joseph

It's worth finding a cheaper rate with a new company then bargaining with your current one. Our current one undercut the cheapest one I could find then gave us fifty dollars off the next month. It's going to be a pain to keep monitoring price changes.
