I'm sitting here peeling the chocolate off my Crunchie so I can devour the honeycomb centre and wondering if this exists on its own? Does anyone know? Don't really want to make it myself... just want a crunchie without the chocolate...

It used to be available. Maybe about 35 years ago I remember buying it. It was in cellophane wrap and available from the local athletic club snack kiosk. Don't believe I've seen it since. Not that I've been near an athletic club since!

It is just normal hokey pokey, You can make it if you get baking soda and heat up white sugar with water in a pot. After the sugar and water boils mix in the baking powder really fast. I did that when i was like 7 and ruined the entire kitchen.

this was my most favourite science test in high school, there was some scientific facts behind it but all i can remember is eating the results.

Lol, yep, one of my best memories of doing athletics as a kid was getting a Honeycomb from the shop at athletics.

I don't think they were exactly the same as Crunchies though...

I remember making it with brown sugar, not white. I recall it being easy to burn and render inedible.

Part 4 in Nigella's recipe - the bit about bashing it up into little pieces - isn't necessary unless one intends nasal inhalation through a rolled banknote.

I used to eat it in Canada as a kid after ice skating. You got a huge, square chunk of it in a clear cellophane wrapper. I prefer it with the chocolate on, now. It's one of my favourite candy bars.

Heard something on the radio yesterday from a woman who had been in south Korea recently and they had been selling 'Hokey Porky' ice cream.

She spoke to the seller suggesting it was a spelling error and he said no, it was bacon flavour ice-cream....!!

Mmmmm.....bacon....gaarrrrrrr!
