Rik Mayall, star of Young Ones and Blackadder dies.

"British actor and comedian Rik Mayall, best known for his appearances in BBC shows The Young Ones and Blackadder, has died aged 56.

''We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Rick Mayall who passed away this morning,'' said the actor's manager, Geoff Stanton from Brunskill management.

''We are devastated and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.''

Brunskill did not give any cause of death, but said further details would be released soon."

Not many actors/comedians have made me laugh so much, so hard.
I grew up watching Young Ones, Dangerous Brothers, Comic Strip etc.

Still thought he had plenty of funny left in him.

RIP Rik, you were a funny bastard.

Their best, IMO. I must have seen it at least 50 times.

Yes, young ones, bottom, black adder and the new statesman. The young ones particularly as I can still identify my particular flatmates at the time who were almost exactly the same as the characters.

I was going to take my avatar of the Squadron Commander Lord Flashheart down, but on second thoughts i might just leave it as it is.

Pricked up my eyes when I saw just now that his dad was John Mayall - but not THE John Mayall - who could have been about the right age.

One of the prime influences of my sick and twisted sense of humour. RIP Mr Mayall, you made the world a funnier place to live in.
