If you catch on fire is it still best to just stop, drop and roll or has something better been developed?

Moss:

Subject: Fire. Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you of a fire that has broken out on the premises of 123 Cavendon Road... no, that's too formal.

.....

Fire - exclamation mark - fire - exclamation mark - help me - exclamation mark. 123 Cavendon Road. Looking forward to hearing from you. Yours truly, Maurice Moss.

Post on Facebook and wait for help?

(I'd suggest Google+ but then help would never appear)

Now come on people this is serious.

There are two other options to Stop, Drop and Roll.

The Hose Belt. (Well done to Vodafone for pushing this new 'life saving' device in their advertisements!)

The Personal Belt Mounted Fire Extinguisher.

Both ready to go wherever and whenever you ignite!

Otherwise (and in all seriousness), stick to the Stop, Drop and Roll or where possible wrap the person in a Fire Blanket (or large wet/damp blanket if that's all that's availabile)

If you're outdoors, find a camp site and wait to get rained on.

The only one time I caught fire, I was kneeling beside the camp cooker on the DOC hut steps when my mate pointed out that my cargo pants pocket was alight. Before I had time to tweet, croon to the tune of a Springsteen, snap a selfie, compose a letter, stop, drop, or roll. I had slapped the fire out with an open palm, the only remaining evidence of the fiasco being a 20mm dia hole in my trou.

TL; DR yes - there are alternatives to stop drop and roll.
