The older folk do. Thats the crowd that makes their cash. I heard of this story of an older lady with dementia who was being called by the microsoft folk once a week clipping the ticket.

In Ghana, scammers or those who practice "Sakawa" worship a witch doctor/preist who prays to the email gods to bring them good fortune and wealth.

Often the witch doctor communicates to those wanting to practice "Sakawa" the wishes of the gods which often means doing something strange in order to appease them.  If they do not do the requested task, they face endless bad luck.

...No joke.  And on that note, if people such as the described above exist, I can believe an old lady or middle aged man/woman could fall for someone calling saying they are from Microsoft.

Sometimes what you don't get is a blessing in disguise!

I just heard tell around the staff room table that they specifically design these with spelling errors etc. to save on 'intelligent' people answering and wasting the spammers time.... Apparently the target audience IS the village idiot who may go as far as to pay to 'win' something like this.... Many villages worldwide so lotsa village idiots to glean from?
