Hey Everyone

Just bought a lot of 100+ (12") records from a seller in USA. I was surprised the shipping was only $25 USD but it's been shipped and it's on it's way to me.

Just wondering if anyone else has bought anything similar in size and weight and only paid that much in shipping also? It comes under the ebay global shipping program, which seems all okay. It's shipped domestically to another mail service provider which then ships internationally and it's cheap.

I just bought another lot of 100+ records, and the seller says the shipping is $100+ USD. I said hang on, i just bought another lot and the shipping is only $25?? I mentioned to this recent seller the global shipping program but seems like she still cant figure how the shipping is only $25.

Can anyone suggest another way for this seller to ship to NZ at a cheaper cost?

GSP uses Pitney Bowes to ship the goods who being a bulk delivery company seem to have some fairly good rates. In this case I'd pick the GSP price was probably too cheap.

Shipping from the US to NZ is expensive - my only recommendation is to use GSP (despite it's disadvantages) if it's an option. It is entirely possible the GSP shipping price was wrong in the first place, since this relies on the data from the seller to calculate the cost.

i think the seller just have to sign up to the ebay global shipping program

i shipped some car parts using this and it was $26USD another seller which didnt use the shipping program was $110USD shipping

One thing i would say is that they hold back delivery until the date they give you

Did some rough calculations for shipping with YouShop. It would be roughly $80.00ish for 50 records in one parcel so approx $160 for 2 lots of 20. Yikes. Don't want to do that!

I've gone back to the seller, and asked if she can join GSP to generate a lower shipping cost. In the meantime, watching the tracking intently for the original auction.

Interesting, I recently bought an Intel quad port NIC from a seller in the US, the card itself was US$60 but shipping was also US$25 ($25.77 to be exact) - but the box would be way smaller than what you bought (220mm x 140mm x 40mm). The GSP tracking left a bit to be desired (it was about 5 days behind) but it got here in the end and was cheaper than what I could have got the card for here. After a conversation with the seller about the tracking numbers I found out he hadn't realised he'd signed up for the GSP.

I just bought some tools on Ebay shipped by GSP. After I ordered (of course) I read some very negative comments about GSP on a Geekzone post - I wondered if I'd made a big mistake. However the package was delivered within about 10 days from order (which is okay ex USA for a heavy item >5kg), the shipping price was good (about NZ$32 - less than half what other sellers were quoting). While there wasn't detailed tracking information, my last experience with Fedex where detailed shipping information was available on-line, ended up being a waste of time anyway - when it was clear that something had stuffed up in their system and they'd "lost" a package after I'd paid GST etc - their phone support was deplorable (However in their favour, when they found the item they did a special courier delivery on Sunday - much to my surprise).
So far GSP seems to work for me. I bought a cambelt, along with water puimp, tensioners, gaskets etc on Ebay yesterday. I have a message from the seller telling me that the parts will be shipped from multiple warehouses, so won't arrive at the same time. However, the cost for extra packages is their problem - not mine. I pay by Paypal - worst that can happen is I get my money back.
