Anyone ever tried one of those washer/dryer combos?

Are they any good?

Cheers

AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!

Expensive
Slow
Inefficient
Small load
Turn your laundry into a sauna

Washers and dryers have completely different design requirements.
Combining them is like Genetic Engineering - crossing an apple with an orange gives you a ... lemon :)

I haven't heard good things about them. Tue only reason anyone would consider one is if low on space , but even then you can wall mount a normal dryer above a washer.

What part is expensive? The washing, drying or both? I've looked at these for a minor dwelling and am aware you can't dry the same amount you wash.... But that's ok, easy to work around.

I've used combination washer-dryers and would not buy one for reasons other posters have already stated.

They are expensive.

They are very slow and they do not dry well. I suspect the dryer struggles to get rid of the water remaining after the wash cycle is completed.

Since modern washers and dryers can be stacked to take up only one machine-width, the only place I see for a combination machine is where it must fit under a benchtop and there is only room for a single machine.

Yeah that's a problem I have. No where else to put them and can't stack. It will be a short term solution with plans to do the over/under separate machines later.

No experience personally, but brother had one and said never again too. Worst of both worlds. Wash was ok, but dry was totally hopeless. You can sometimes pick up the stackable combo for the same or less than the all in one as well.

If you don't have room for two units, just buy the washer and do your drying the old-fashioned way.
Combined units are worse than useless for drying.

Yeah I'm thinking I might just do that. I don't think I have heard a single person recommend them. They are also as rare as rocking horse shhhh which tells me something!
