Not sure what has been turned on here, but about 6 or so months ago, I wondered what Google and the others were doing here because the "targeted" ads they all tout were so poor and I never saw anything in them remotely relating to me. It was all generic stuff
But recently, sites I have visited are now showing ads to me and links I have viewed are showing ads back to me. For example, I have been looking at lenovo laptops and various SSD's and when I view geekzone, I have samsung SSD's and lenovo showing ads. I looked for samsung ativ s cases a while back and then had shopping sites showing samsung cases in my ads. Looking at RC cars led to ads for shopping sites with rc cars. This is the same for Google and various other sites too.
Weird, big brother is taking notice of me now.
Anyone else noticed this, or just me?

Probably just something that's been happening overseas a lot and only recently got to New Zealand. It's called retargetting - similarly if you go to Amazon and look for something you will Amazon ads on your Facebook feed. They aren't explicitly linking your personal information to something, only your client browser.

Obviously someone could if wanted get the information from the browser and store in your account later but at the moment is just a stream of data going from browser to ad server and back, not necessarily your personal identification information.

I had the same with RC aeroplanes. I looked at a popular RC model on the HobbyKing website and all of a sudden I see adverts for that same plane on Geekzone from HobbyKing.

Was kinda' weird! At least we don't get the "OMG hot asian singles in your area, right now!" Or "Shoot the target to win 50000000000 chips FREE!" adverts here.
