Anyone got some coping strategies when encountering stupid people ?

I'm struggling, and for some reason I'm not allowed to club them to death with the nearest chair! :-(

Depends on the circumstances. Most people are stupid, but why you're interacting with them can influence how you should handle them, imo ;)

first up they may not know IT but that does not make them stupid. I had a rule at the teams I managed and it was on the walls as plaques, that is " we do not speak ill of our customers" it actually changed attitudes and made life easier.
Everyone has knowledge sets and one just has to take that into account.

I click "Compose Reply" and type some fairly meaningless nonsense.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

Who said it was related to IT, this is the Off Topic forum.  Nothing wrong with a bit of lighthearted fun mocking stupid people in my view.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

i will add I provided a stuffed Shmoo for the breakout room, it was great  for venting built up frustration.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

I confess to doing that once, we had a guy that would drink my Coke if it were sitting on my desk, so I put added liquid Sena in the Coke. I was flushed with success :P

Just remind yourself how much better than them you are...and feel sorry for them that they aren't as awesome as you :) works a treat.

Now a more serious answer, how I deal with stupid is to remember that to some I am stupid.

I have recently moved into an IT role, I have gone from being very bright in comparison to my old work colleagues to average with my new ones.

I imagine if I moved up another teir I would feel positively stupid!

Just breathe deep, take things slow and use small words.
