Just got an email about how they are now introducing Youshop China. Interesting

just select any other shipping option dhl, ems, etc. if you want  quick turn-around. dhl from china takes only 3-5 days.

I buy stuff occasionally from an ebay seller and they post stuff and it arrives in a couple of weeks.  I'm not sure how they do it but the stuff consistently arrives within two weeks.

Seems so odd, when  most chinese sellers will ship worldwide happily and for very low cost (or free)...

They factor it into the cost of the item...which makes you really wonder the true cost of things we buy.

$20NZ item with free shipping off Aliexpress broken down would be something like

$6 shipping

$2NZ Aliexpress cut

$6NZ sellers cut

$6NZ cost price

So the same item sold in NZ for $30-40 + NZ shipping. You can get a idea how much retailers are making.

Should setup a Japanese division instead, most of the shops there won't ship overseas and some of them won't even accept our payment methods (credit cards must be issued from Japan).

But there are way more things to buy there.

Post via HK post is done by weight of the sack with all the mail in it. Its slow but for small things so cheap its as good as free.

And when I was there was introduced to some shippers that will box and freight things for you.

various fees (trademe, bank, accountant, ....)
  CGA compliance costs

True that, highlight the absurdity of buying cheap Chinese goods so far upstream. You are essentially paying a small pittance to everyone in the chain which adds up to high cost for you.
