Just an update on expired Gift Voucher Cards. I recently applied with success to Gift Station who issued Noel Leeming gift cards. I had 2 cards of $250 in value that had expired (four or five months past.)  ... don't ask why so long  !!

I wrote an email and faxed a completed "Expired Gift Card Extension Request" to Epay NZ Ltd, who run Gift Station. They deliberated for a month or so and sent me an email extending or a further 30 days.

Lesson
use cards as soon as possible to receiving
don't save for a rainy day
gift cards from different places have different length lives - check each one.

It always pays to ask. I was very pleased with Gift Station's service.

surprisingly good outcome - nice work Gift Station. Your post somewhat states the obvious though - re using them before they expire :)

You are very lucky.
Unused/part used/expired gift cards are a great source of revenue, which is why so many companies issue them.

I think it's a bit of a jip that gift cards have an expiry date at all. You pay $100 for a $100 gift card, why should it only be good for a limited amount of time?

I agree and in researching my chances of getting an extension noted in many countries including US gift cards don't have expiry. I is a rort, Consumer NZ say it has still to be tested in court - but as it worked out for me it won't be me testing it.
