Long story short, purchased a watch from Amazon on the 13th of October.

3 days later, I have it in my hot little hand

Thank you DHL.

NZpost. Sort your sh6t out. Shouldn't take a week to get from Christchurch to Auckland. No wonder you're losing money with such a poor service record.

How much did you pay for DHL shipping? How much did you pay for your NZ Post shipping?

If you want overnight service from Christchurch to Auckland use a courier or NZ post with courier addon - regular post isn't an overnight service unless you pay for it.

For the International DHL Shipping I paid $18NZD. For the NZ Post Courier I paid the standard $8 I think it was.

On that note the things I have ordered couriered recently have taken an extended period of time, Including the items I make orders for at work which are all shipped overnight.

DHL international sounds like a far better value for money, Irony is they are both the same company, CourierPost is owned by DHL.

Many times when i order from Amazon,

1) it doesnt allow a NZ address in the first place.

2) sometimes it does, then shipping is ridiculous like 80-90$

Can you please give a link here to your watch so that i can try to replicate the $18 DHL rate what you have got.

Thanks

How'd you get it so cheap? Amazon priority for a watch appears to cost NZ$36 when I try it, or $25/$13 if you want to wait a while. Youshop is probably cheaper, but slower, by design.

NZPost is VERY expensive to send things overseas. Postage costs double to triple from NZ to say Thailand than the other direction.

CourierPost not owned by DHL, it has a strategic relationship with them. CourierPost is actually Express Couriers Limited, which has a single shareholder, New Zealand Post Limited.

I picked up a Roku 3 recently off Amazon, paid the premium $25NZ shipping for 3-6 days.. Even with the UPS shipping delay it only took 7 days. eBay Global shipping program is another story (2 weeks to get an item).

By far the quickest is FedEx, ive had car parts out of USA in 48 hours form order to door.

Thing with little old NZ is we don't deal with the volumes that USA, Asia and Europe have, therefore we dont require the infrastructure and systems that make these amazing deliver times possible.

Yep my mistake, it was $30NZD. Not sure where I got $18 from?

Yes, I have seen stuff get from the USA to NZ faster than it gets from Auckland to the Wairarapa.

And I have seen one courier from Auck to Welly, another from Welly to Masterton, then a THIRD from Masterton to Martinborough then the Rural Delivery guy to my house. Four sets of hands to get the parcel 800km.

Inefficient does not begin to describe it.

Red & Yellow Branding ???

DHL owns Courier Post

or does Mcdonalds own all red and yellow brands ?

At most they are a deliver partner.

Courier post is part of NZ post I believe.

The DHL bit is just partnering to get worldwide reach by leveraging an existing network.
