I recently ordered something called a Nifty Drive for my Macbook Pro. It's a carrier for a micro SD card that goes in the SD card slot, fits flush and looks like it was made by Apple. You pop in a micro SD and hey presto - en extra disk drive.

They sell direct and since it was a Kickstarter thing, I figured I would support them. They have $30 'flat rate' international shipping which seemed a lot for something so small but what the heck.

Today I get an email from them advising me that the order is on hold because FedEx have come back and 'want an additional $30 to ship to your address'.

I cancelled the order and ordered it from the Apple Store at more or less the same price with free shipping.

Sometimes the world feels like you're banging your head against a wall.

We live in the place the rest of the world runs away to when they written out of a TV show. I have come to expect such things.

$60 for that though. I hope it'd come brought by a French waiter until a silver service dome.

No it's because they've realised Mr Geektastic lives where NZ goes to disappear. Fedex Extended Delivery even applies to parts of N America.

I pointed out to the company that their choice of shipping partner has cost them the sale.

Our address is a simple PO Box in Martinborough - I did not give them our Rural Delivery address.
