Anyone know where to get a right-angle adapter (M/F) for telephone cable?  I think our plugs are standard BT or RJ-something.

I have a large bookcase being placed up against the wall and any cable gets bent severely, so a right-angle adapter would help keep wires from breaking etc.

Maybe even an extension cable with a right-angle plug already moulded in?

Tks.

BT and RJ45 are totally different. Need to know what type of plug you actually have before anybody could answer your question.

Steve ... definitely the BT plug and socket.

I know they are not RJ45, I just thought that the BT style also had an RJ number ... maybe not?

Useless facts of the day.

BT = British Telecom, the colloquial term for jack standard BS6312 431A

RJ = Registered Jack - a series of standards used throughout telecommunications that define jack standards and wiring standards

8P8C = The type of connector used on ethernet cables, commonly (and incorrectly) referred to as an RJ45 jack.
4P4C = Ditto, commonly referred to has RJ11.

So if someone ever goes to you "can you hand me that RJ45 connector!", you can go "No, but I can hand you the 8P8C connector!" and then you can watch them walk away muttering something about being a cable nerd...

RJ45 is the generic term given to a LAN  jack and RJ61 for the 8 wire telephony version..
