I am looking for free or near to free software so that I can get a cheap bar-code reader and catalog lots of books in a short space of time. We have heaps that don't have bar codes so other title based searches would be good as well.

Best case scenario - scan a bar code, it searches for it on the net, loads up all the details, if no bar-code (old book) then type in title or part of and it does the same.

Anyone got a good suggestion? From what I have looked at on the net there seem to be some that only work with US based barcodes Hence I am posting on Geekzone to get some local advice.

Thanks all

Have'nt used it myself, but have heard good things from the library community ... and it's Kiwi made :)

If you're on a Mac (which I suspect you are not, but oh well), Delicious Library is a winner.
