So I finally watched the final two episodes of this series I have watched every episode of.

I delayed watching it for months because strangely I didn't really want to say good bye :)

However, WTF, she DIED?!!! I felt kicked in the face, and worse still he goes back to Robin who never really wanted him? Wrecked it a little for me.

I thought they did the actual meeting bit really well, was quite a powerful scene.

Anyone else feel the very last bit wasn't fitting for the end?

To be fair, in hindsight it was rather obvious at a few points, especially in the middle of Season 9.  Around midway though there were a lot of 'rumours'/predictions that she'd die, I got the reasons behind the predictions, but didn't want to believe it.

As for Ted/Robin Redux #(lost count), I got the impression there was an implication that they'd spent a lot of time together after the death, and after the Robin/Barney break-up it'd likely be different. Also it was more (as I recall) "do you mind if we try" rather than instant back together.

Not sure how I missed the references to her death...

I was kinda bummed Barney and Robin broke up.

Very vague, but there were certainly a few moments in Season 9 where you could think 'wait, is she still alive?'.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/emilyorley/how-i-met-your-mother-will-probably-end-the-way-you-feared (yes, Buzzfeed... I know...) was one of the collection of theories sparked from part of Season 9.

Apparently there is an alternative ending on one of the DVD sets that ends in a very boring way, but to be frank, they apparently filmed this ending during season 1 (how else would the 'kids' look so young still?) so it would've been a waste.

I knew it was coming thanks to reading spoilers, but watching season 9 with that in mind, it is really obvious that it was going to be Ted and Robin all along. I didn't feel it was that good after watching it for so long, but not sure that any other ending would have been that much better after such a long run.

Yup... started going downhill after first few seasons, but we stuck it out and watched all the way through.

Lot of series are doing it now, starting off with a hiss and a roar, and at the end just fall over.  True Blood is another example...

they really stretched out the end of this one.  the whole last season was basically rubbish.  shame, as it was always quite funny

Heh wow that's a rough call. True Blood was 10x worse. I can think of a few others too.

I got a few laughs each episode mostly or at least a few smiles even to the end. The last 2 episodes were fairly mixed. Parts were excellent, parts were rubbish.
