Any idea where in the central area I could buy a good quality non-alcoholic wine?

No, not grape juice ; )

Glengarry normally have a couple of non-alcoholic options, if I recall.

Got some Edenvale from there. Good value for the price but seeking other options.

I purchased the red. Imbibing it was an interesting experience. Many of the soporific and psychedelic (for want of a better description) effects still occur I feel. Clearly there are many interesting compounds that occur in the winemaking process.

If an effect had occurred instantaneously or very quickly then I would suspect so. It was some time later while travelling in a vehicle that I noticed some small effects. I purchased this as a xmas present and then because it was opened took the opportunity to try it. It was interesting. I am not a regular drinker of anything so a repeat might be unlikely.

It would be nice to find something that does not taste like water with 40 teaspoons of sugar in it. I don't drink alcohol and feel out of place not toasting etc and get sick of diet coke

You could try Holsten. It's a kind of a beer, but not really a beer taste so it is difficult to describe. It is available from Indian & Pakistan type grocery stores. Pomegranate is the most common available in NZ, it is not a strong fruit flavor but pleasant and not sweet, nor sour like a beer.

I go with soda water and a slice of lime, looks like a vodka.
