I am in Wellington, ordered yesterday, nothing today for supposedly Overnight Courier.

This is the third time in a row, literally the third time in a row, I have ordered from a certain online store (You can probably guess) for supposedly Overnight delivery and no package has arrived. I have been credited back the shipping fee on all occasions but still, very very frustrating.

I don't think this problem lies with the store, more so with the courier in my area.

So just wondering, is anybody else waiting/given up on their packages arriving today?

I never order anything with overnight delivery these days. A few times I paid for that and it didn't happen, so I just pay cheaper shipping.

As for waiting... Nope, ordered a lot of stuff off Amazon back in November and everything was delivered - the last box came in last week.

I did order a 5-way HDMI switch from DealExtreme earlier December but didn't expect to land until January (their free shipping is very slow). I was surprised to see it here a couple of days ago.

Yep - order a number of things in the last few days that all said they would be delivered today or earlier (even with the Chrsitmas rush) and none of them were delivered.

I know that at least 3 different delivery firms are involved in the variety of items not delivered. Poor form all of them.

I ordered some stuff for my Mum in the UK from M&S on Sunday.

I had the option to pick 'named day delivery' on 23rd for an additional $6 equivalent. The whole lot was wrapped and delivered on time with only 48 hours between order and delivery less than a week before Christmas.

Nice.

For an extra $6 equivalent I can tell Australia Post not only what day but what time of day I want a package to arrive, and that includes Saturday (in fact over the Christmas period, they added Saturday delivery at no charge to all packages).

The NZ courier companies clearly need to step up their game.

I'm not saying it's in any way excusable for the couriers to not fulfill their next-day delivery commitment when a customer has paid for it, but in light of their well known poor performance of late if I wanted to be sure to have the goods in my hand by Christmas day I personally wouldn't have left it until the 23rd to place my order.

mine never arrived. Was supposed to have been Tuesday so waited all day and yesterday.  NZ Post deliver all here.  Guess postie must have been overwhelmed and never made it.   So now hopefully it arrives in new year as they wont deliver here Friday

Brother-in-law lives in a rural delivery area. Postie told him a couple of days ago people have been stealing anything that looks like gifts from mailboxes around the route...

Not good, folks.

The last 'overnight' delivery I paid for took 8 days (2 weeks ago).  They blamed it on the Christmas rush...

Courier services in NZ are going to hell in a hand basket.

I'm waiting for a package from Canada, but it was never going to arrive in time anyway due to being sent far too late. I'm not too fussed about it though; it'll turn up when it turns up :)

The company i just started working for sells online exclusively, and we've had emails up to our ears all week asking about shipping. Well there is sooooo much that can go wrong and delay your parcel.

Most of the common ones seem to be CourierPost doing one of the following:

  • Misdirecting it to the wrong depot at the wrong end of the country
  • Delivering to wrong address
  • Completely losing a parcel
I'm not saying that they should really be foegiven, because they can be really bad sometimes, but if you want something delivered before Christmas then maybe you should plan ahead and not order it 2 days before you need it. Or pay for a decent courier that are dedicated to fast delivery targets.
