Online Acer Iconia A1-830 $99 'Deal' from DSE: Curious to know if anybody else jumped on this just prior to Xmas? If so did you receive an A1-830? I bought one fairly soon after receiving email from DSE, tablet that turned up on Xmas eve was the A1-810, the old model with lower spec'd processor, plastic body, dimmer screen. No explanation for change and shipping slip specified the A1-830. I'm trying to determine how many (if any) of the A1-830's were actually available/sent, and how many people paid for a current tablet and had an old model substituted instead, as this is starting to look like a 'bait advertising' deal from where I sit. PM me if necessary :-)

MOD EDIT: SP: Thread title made relevant, moved forum.

I would suggest you contact DSE and talk to them about the wrong product being sent than what was advertised.

I have contacted DSE, they're not interested.
Bait advertising is an illegal practice frowned on by the Commerce Commission; I'm trying to establish if the vendor actually provided ANY of the advertised product or if they took orders for a particular item and then shipped an inferior product with no explanation.

Not sure how they couldn't be interested they sold you a item and delivered a different item they need to fix that or they're definitely going to be in trouble for not providing what you bought.

kiwigeezer: I have contacted DSE, they're not interested.

This is a driving reason why I have ignored the hundreds of "Online only" emails DSE have been sending me, almost every day for months now.
As soon as I see "online only" I delete the email.

I want to see the product box, read the info, see the product in the flesh, and generally know the product as well as I can, BEFORE I part with my cash!

Tony

Oh tell me about it, I ignore all their emails now, so many and just the same deal over and over again.

If they wont respond, and you have records of trying then do a chargeback with the card issuer.

There's quite a difference between the two models:
The size of the bezel being the most obvious. Smaller on the 830, also the 830 is lighter. The 830 is about 9 months newer too, in tablet lifespans that's huge.
Dual core vs Quad core etc etc.

I suggest calling them again. Don't make it too tech-O, & don't mention your first communication with them, just calmly explain you've been sent the wrong model item.
It would be shocking if they wont sort this out.
