Just received the following with (ostensibly) pdf attachment on my Orcon account from 'Google+':

Dear Google User:

Attached is your winning notification for your patronage to the Google app and service.

Regards,
Matt Brittin
Google Anniversary Award Center.

I haven't seen this one before and am just wondering if anyone else has had it. I don't have a sacrificial computer handy at the moment so did not try to open attachment. A look at sender info gives Parushurama [dot] Vittal [at] efsme.com.

Changed the subject because "Google+" is not exactly descriptive.

And yes, it is a scam anyway, so why bother opening?

Hi Mauricio, I was just curious if anyone else knew anything about this. I don't usually see spam on that account. Also, I used to investigate viruses so am interested in techniques employed.

Well, as we don't know your background and it wasn't clear in the OP the usual recommendation is "do not open it".

A little bit more background on the post and the warning would be avoided...

Ok, I will keep that in mind in the future.

We have no idea what is in that email at all, you should open it and tell us all what happens. Perhaps you can start a new thread when you know the outcome with a title like "My files are all encrypted and they want bitcoins" or "My ISP has cut me off for sending spam!! Help Me Now!"

Ha ha. I was just wondering if anyone had received the same or similar or knew anything more about this particular scam, which of course it is. Mainly I'm curious why it showed up on my Orcon account in particular, and if any other Orcon user has received it.
